Richmond Ranked a Best City for Business by Wall Street Journal's Marketwatch.com
On December 13, 2011, The Wall Street Journal's MarketWatch issued its yearly report of the top cities in the country for business. Washington, DC, located approximately 90 miles from Richmond, won first place for the second year in a row. Richmond ranked the 12th best city, closely following cities such as Denver, New York, Austin, and Boston.

Mayor Jones Announces Major Expansion of Health Diagnostics Laboratory, Inc.
On Tuesday, November 23, 2011, Mayor Dwight C. Jones announed the expansion of Health Diagnostics Laboratory, Inc. (HDL) in the Virginia BioTechnology Research Park. "This $68.5 million capital investment and 653 net new jobs will bring HDL's employment to over 950 employees and makes HDL a major employer in the city of Richmond," said Mayor Jones.

Richmond Ranked 7th Best City for Working Mothers
